First of all, thanks to all of you who made it to Swan Market, and visited my booth!
Now back to painting. Last week I finished my latest project called Feathery Friends. When me and my partner were on holiday in LA we were lucky to spot a hummingbird in the wild. I liked it so much, I wanted it to be part of a new painting. And here it is:
Feathery Friends was painted on gessoboard with acrylic paint. My little dragon is red, and her color attracts the hummingbirds. They are surrounded bij Salvia and Monkey Flower, some of the hummingbird’s most favorite flowers.
I’m already working on my new project, called Puppet of Economy. Last year I painted Puppet of Fate and Puppet of Love, so this will be the third installment in this series. The idea behind these paintings is, things you sometimes have no control of. With all the things going on in Holland (and worldwide), with the crisis and all, I noticed that it starts to affect me. Everywhere you go people talk about the economy, the greedy bank managers who made a mess that we have to pay for, while they still get their annual bonuses. About our pension plan, which we pay for, but which seems to decrease in value each year. The unemployment rates, and so on and so on…
I thought it was time to put my feelings about the current situation on canvas. So here she is, my work in progress called Puppet of Economy. Still lots and lots to do, but I’ll keep you posted.
