Returning Soul

In last night’s art class I finished up my piece called Returning Soul.

Returning Soul

Each year the fourth generation Monarch butterfly flies all the way from the northern states of North America, to a specific place in Mexico. There it goes in hibernation.
The arrival in Mexico of the Monarch is around the Day of the Dead. The Mexican belief is that the Monarch butterflies are the souls of the dead, coming back to earth.
I hope I was able to capture this belief.
Returning Soul was created with acrylics on canvas board.
