Busy bee

I recently read that to become known as an artist, it’s not enough to just have a blog. I agree, so I have been very busy this last week in creating galleries on Elfwood, Art Wanted, Fantastic Portfolios and Tumblr, besides my already existing gallery on Deviantart.

And the good news is, that my artwork Moon was picked as moderators choice on Elfwood! Check her on http://www.elfwood.com/mod_picks.html?

I still have to make some adjustments to some of my pieces before they’re shown at Elfwood, because of edges showing and such.

But what I definitely found out, is that you reach a whole new group of people through these websites. I already received some feedback on Deviantart from people who otherwise would never have known about my work. So, if you’re just starting to try and get your artwork known like me, then the best thing to do is put your artwork on as many (free) art websites as possible. They don’t have to cost you a thing, except your time.

Meanwhile, in tonight’s art class I will finally be able to work on my latest work in progress called “Fairy Friends”.

  1. Hey! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My website looks weird when browsing from my apple iphone. I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to fix this issue. If you have any suggestions, please share. Cheers!

    1. Hi there!
First of all my apologies for not responding sooner. It has been a very busy month.
Do you have a website in WordPress? If so, go to your dashboard, and select Appearance. Then go to Mobile.
      There you have to choices:
Enable mobile them – select yes
Enable excerpts on front page and on archive pages – select no if you want to show full pictures

      I hope this was helpful.

      Kind regards,

      Saskia

  2. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something which I think I would never understand.
It seems too complex and very broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I’ll
try to get the hang of it!

    1. I know what you mean. It took me a while to figure things out, and I’m still figuring things out. Mainly, when you put your work on free websites, the whole process is time consuming, especially in the beginning when you have a lot of work to put on them.
But when that’s done, the only thing to do is maintain your galleries. Each time when you finish something, just put it online immediately in your free galleries. What I do is, when I finish an art piece, I open all my galleries at once. You always have the part where you describe your art piece. You don’t have to create a whole new story in each gallery, just wright it once and then copy and paste it to your other galleries. That saves you a lot of time.
Then, next to all the time consuming part, the other part is patience (not one of my better character traits :-))
I hope this was helpful to you! Thank you for reading my blog.
